Morning.... how was your weekend? This weekend was amazing for a few of reasons: the sun was shining, the wet clothes can be dry quickly..lots of time was spent with loved ones...a beautiful and clean home... crafting and crafting still in progress...and here are some photos to highlight what I've done this weekend..my bubble skirt for my dear niece! Ngee....I can't wait to see Abigail wears this skirt..

day curtain for my H-A-L-L

Within 2hrs, I completed my day curtain. I used quite cheap but beautiful lace fabric where you can get it at NAGOYA for RM2.80/m. Furthermore, the lace design is something that I could considered as my ideal combination for my dear curtains. hehehe..Enough said...please have a look!

This has become my curtains for almost 5months. Kesiankn? Especially dengan penyepit baju kayu tue. Kena pulak pakai masking tape konon2nya nk bg 'curtain tue KUKUH pertahanannya.Sadis betul...huhuhu...but anyway...thanks a lot my dear cotton fabric! Bought them at Penang few years back. RM2/mtr. Jasamu sgtlah dikenang!

Ever heard about this name? Mestilah kn..glemer tue... Once in a while I will go there..selalunya x membeli pn... harga tersangat canntiiikkkkk... tgk kain pn dh tau...rasa diri ni x mampu nk beli kain chantik chantik itu.. melainkan kalau ada sale...SALE BANJIR ke...SALE JATUH MENJUNAM ker... SALE GILA-GILA ke..baru ler mampu untuk membeli...menang membeli menang memakailer katakan...heheh.

Oklaaa...back to my curtain story.... me n hubby dgn jayanya membeli kain di Jakel dgn harga yg sgt berpatutan...kain pn mmg jenis lawa..x tau kenapa melampau sgt harga yg diturunkan...kain ni pilihan hubby sbenarnyer..dia yg terperasan kain tu dulu... when he showed it to me, then only I realized it was a gorgeous fabric...nampak mahal tp dull cktlaa...kaler biru-grey-brown... adeh..bertambah biru lg ler hall ktrg ni.. Refer bwh yer few photos taken by him...

kain langsir RM5 semeter.. harga asal RM18++... percaya tak? Beli 25M for all panels. Bykkan?

Ermmh...I think it only took 3-4 hrs to complete sewing this sliding door curtains. exclude all wajib time -makan,minum,taking nap, termenung,..blablabla..Sedar2 jer dah insertkan hook kt curtain tue..

Tadaa......my new sliding door curtain!I am indeed very satisfied with what I've sewn. Horray! Next entry, I'm going to continue with the making of day curtain pulak...kain x beli lg..tp dh terbayang dh nk pky kain jenis apa..definitely in white/cream colour. Happy sewing!

I know...just by looking at my post title, you will definitely know that this short is not my size actually. But anyway, I had fun sewing the pieces together . Here you go..my simple yet easy to sew but too small for me -pinky short!

It comes with pockets for both side and I use french seam technique to finish this short. Definitely will sew more and more in future but with the correct size for me.

my mostly blue quilt

Erkk..it looks so gloomy in here...hehehe...anyway, let start with introduction 1st..about 'what should i with the fabric?' well..my original idea was to make shorts or boxers.. but then I realized this lovely 100% cotton is suitable for quilt too. So, my second idea was much more exciting to do than the short. So, here you go.. my 2nd baby quilt. I can say that 40% goes to sewing machine..and another 60% goes to hand stitching. That is why this project came a bit late from my schedule. And I hope that the owner of this quilt will like it too. Well..obviously I wish her mum will like it 1st, then only she will give it to her baby girl .It's for you, my dear niece..Roselle Usun!

i want this quilt to have pillow look design. That is why you can see a lot of face hand stitching on it. And it looks puffy too!

I bought all these fabrics from Nagoya except for the gorgeous blue-dotted one. Bought that one from Lian-Lilstitchy!

duration for me to complete this hand-stitching? Almost a month(lazy+no mood+ itchy-finger due to needles).Penat wei! At one point I said to myself, just gave up this hand-stitching-change to machine! use sewing machine! It's easier! but then..ermmhh..i guess my passion for hand stitching are still there..i continued and luckily for me... it's finally done!

there you go another 'renyah' work...wait till u see them completely.

hahah..my another flower creation. glad that it turn out the way i want it to be!

crafting at my workplace

I've been busy with my office work lately. It's been 2mth plus I've been with this new company. Very busy. For the 1st month, I felt very bored. Not many people want to help me, to guide me. It's not that they are not willing to help me but it's all because of they are very busy with their own work. It's very different environment with my previous company. I used to work at flexi hours but now, I have to get up as early as I can since i need to reach there before 8am. It's a bit far from my home too. But since I'm at opposite direction of traffic jam, then it's okay with me. To tell the truth , I'm dealing with some sort sewing stuff too. Only that this one is not for crafty thingy. We're specialized in interior part of automobiles. We sew seat leather cover for variety part of cars. From Kancil to Ferrari...these customers will send their seat cover to us in order to change the them into new comfortable leather type.
Anyway, I'm not going to explain in details on what I'm doing at my workplace.. hehehe..It's just that even during my busy time at office, I still manage to do some craft stuff at office. I became new comittee member for 5S. And one of the task is to decorate the notice board. well of course it's not the main task..the main task is actually to assist all the HOD during audit, report and etc. But anyway, back to the notice board.. I manage to use some of my crazy idea to it. And this is what happen... hihihi..

The funny thing is, because of this notice board, my GM asked me to design background for our company big banner too. hahaha...it's too much for me to handle. Luckily my colleague can help me out for this part. Thanks, Dieya!

my january reversible skirt

Hope it's not too late for me to wish HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010! live long, live strong, and live happy! Anyway..here is some notes on my 2010 resolution:

1. Atleast 1 sewing project monthly
2. ermhh..tutorial for some of my own projects, perhaps?
3. Updates my not so called active-perfect blog frequently.
4. Meeting lots n lots crafter friends all around the world!

So..here we go. My 1st project! My january reversible skirt. First of all.. I would like to give credits to Kara from Sweet & Salty for sharing her tutorial about her gorgeous girly twirly skirt. You may check out her blog to see her tutorial. Pretty easy! And i was inspired from her blog when I want to do this version of mine. Thanks a lot, Kara! The only different is I have to double the amount of fabrics.
I made 2 pattern for this skirt. And of course it's not for me..hihihih..I can say that it took only 2.5 hours to sew this skirt ( in total 5 hrs for both) and I'm proud of it. Never thought that I can finish it very fast! Here you go..my 1st handmade for this new year 2010! And sorry..tutorial is not available for this one yet. hehe..

to push 2 elastic bands together was the hardest part....phewhh.......but...

I'm so happy with the ending!

Here we go...STITCH TERMS & TECHNIQUES

ARMSCYE: An armhole in the body of the garment that the sleeve or facing will fit into.

APPLIQUE: Decorative technique with one piece of fabric stitched on top of another.

BIAS BINDING: Narrow strips of fabric used to create neat finishes to hems and edgings.

BOBBIN: Round holder underneath the needle plate on a sewing machine where thread is wound.

DART: A stitch tapered fold used to give garments shape around the contours of the body.

GRAIN: The lengthways and crossways directions of the threads in the fabric.

HEM & SEAM ALLOWANCE: Amount of fabric allowed for turning to make a hem or seam.

INTERFACING: Fabric placed between the main material and facing to give item structure, available in a range of weights.

LINING: A separate piece o fabric sewn on the inside of a piece to hide raw edges and help it hang well.

NOTIONS: The items used to complete a project, including zips, buttons and elastic.

PILLING: Small balls of fibre can appear on the surface of synthetic materials, cause by wear.

PLEAT: Even folds of fabric stitched to create shaping or for decoration

RAW EDGE: The cut edge of fabric, it can be finished with zig zag machine stitch to prevent fraying.

REVERSE STITCH: A sewing machine setting that allows you to work back over a row of stitches to secure.

RIGHT SIDE: This is the side of the fabric that will be on show when the project is competed.

SELVEDGE: The finished edges of woven fabrics.

TACKING STITCH: A loose hand sewn temporary stitch used to hold fabrics together before stitching

TOP STITCH: A machine straight stitch used on the right side on an item. Often worked in contrasting colour for decorative effect.

WARP: The lengthways threads on woven fabrics or textiles.

WEFT: The widthways threads that run across the warp on a woven fabric.

WRONG SIDE: The reverse side of the fabric, which will be the inside of the completed garment or project.

YOKE: The top section of a garment from which the rest of the skirt or dress hangs.

ZIG ZAG STITCH: A machine stitch used to secure raw edges of fabric that can also be used for decorative purposes.

It's for Mya. My far-far away niece.wait ya..auntie sissy quite busy these few weeks. But dun worry,you will get exactly the same like Bgail's too. The diff is only the fabric, i guess. Fair and square,my dear.

a lot of 'jahit sembat'...and i used my new bias tape maker to do that 'button hold'. erkkk...am i using the correct term? hehehe..

anyway...interested to sew one like this? if you are an amatur like me...all you've got to do is...buy the pattern from Alviana at her shop SHOPAHOLIC SEWIST and just follow the simple instruction. It's very easy! And you have a freedom to alter the design too. The pattern is very useful for doing the basic construction but the finishing is all up to you. Just like my skirt..you will notice that the waist part is totally different with the one in the picture of M5566 McCalls pattern.

and my upcoming project...CURTAINS! It's not for me but I'm helping my friend. 30 mtrs..waarrgggh!! must finish b4 hari raya.but luckily i don't have to do the scallop thingy...otherwise i pengsan lor...hehehe..anyway..can i make it?I'll try my best Rini!

ermmhhh....lets talk about my work...

my desk. nothing special here. Simple...only my pc, my red cup, my tumbler,my dearest 2009 calendar, few small stuffs...

ahaa...there you go..two important screen, my headphone. it's quite stress working here when there are a lot of cases rushing in. music is my life when this it is happen!

errmmhh....my empty eclipse! i like that sweets very much. i put one in my car too. and I've got dettol sanitizer. courtesy from my office. and pil chi kit teck on. i bought from mamak. this one is just in case if my stomach is shouting for help.

a pear a day keeps my stress away for a while! i will bring fruits to office only if i don't want to go out for lunch. Hup Seng cream crackers? it really becomes my savior when my stomach suddenly craving for somethin especially teatime. dip in hot tea..errmmmhhh mmg sedap!

Cute and really make my day when I am too concentrating with work, too focus looking at the screen..and this flower will keep swinging and somehow it gives me a joy..hehehe..i really like you!

i bought this small thing last weekend at craftworld ss2,pj. quite expensive for this size but i don't know why i grabbed it on the spot and paid it. huhuhu...atleast one of my wishlist came true..finally i got you my bias tape maker!

face mask

Today, Connie(my lil sis) and I went to MV to buy few stuffs, mostly medicine for our little bro.Poor Reggie, he's not feeling very well these few days. So, we bought him vitamins, salon pas, panadol, sanitizer and face masks and we straight away sent those items by Pos Laju. The price of disposable face mask is quite expensive. RM6.90 for 3 pieces. Errmmhh...consider mahalkn?

I found out yesterday about making cotton face masks from Neeza and Peg's blog. Interesting and beautiful! So, I spent this few hours making 3 face masks for Connie and this is the result.

This entry has nothing to do with craft or sewing thingy.... it's just that I'm quite excited or maybe I can say I really like my new new things. Tadaa...

my new sandals! i bought it yesterday at one small shop in Ikano. The price is quite affordable. RM29.90? Murah or not? Hehehe..And by the way, for me..as long as it is the love at the first sight, I will grab it on the spot. Otherwise, i will keep thinking and dreaming about that thing every single day until I buy it. So, my so-so motto is..."alah membeli, menang memakai"! .But sometimes, I did feel regret too if I follow my 'love at first sight" feeling. For example for this shoes.

Lacoste shoes. Memang "alah membeli" but I was "alah memakai" too. I really like the design and color of this snickers and it is very comfortable if you've got the correct size. Eventhough at that time there was no size for me,but because I was so crazy, so much deeply in love with this cute shoes.. I grabbed it(half larger size) on the spot. And now? What happen to this shoes? I seldom wearing it and it always hidden in its box. errmmhh..too bad, right?and membazir too..huhuhu.

Okay, back to my other new things... my craft tool box!! Oppss..I'm still adding something related to craft in this entry too..hahah! I bought a new tool box which is much bigger than previous one and it can fit all my craft's equiptments. RM16.90. It's quite cheap for me. So, I am menang membeli and I am menang memakai too.heheh..well,consider that one my 2nd motto yaa..:)

I'd prefer light blue actually. But since there is no choice, I just bought this one from Tesco.Bolehlah! hehehe..

I can't even put my big scissor in my old tiny craft tool box. And now? Everyting can fit in!

errmmhh...my new tool box is full already.. I'm planning to buy a rotary cutting set,consists of cutter, ruler and the board. what should i do? Buy another tool box? Bigger than this one?hahaha! this is what happen when you are too crazy with something...like sewing!!!! I am addicted to it right now! I keep surveying sewing patterns online, search for new fabbies, jalan2 gie Kamdar, Jakel, Nagoya.. and i did buy some fabbies yesterday too at Kamdar..and few days ago I bought some japanese cotton at Jakel too. hehehee...ayooo..susah2 mcm nie!even for this entry...I'm planning to jot down something which is non-related to sewing thingy and now? I'm still talking about sewing!!

baju kurung part I

My baju kurung project is almost 50% completed. It took few night hours on these two weeks to complete until this stage. Hopefully I can find few more night hours this coming week to finish this unfinished project... which is kain baju kurung. Hahah! I took only 2 pic this time since there was a problem with my my digital camera. And this pic was taken by using my Samsung UH700 hp. Not so sharp and clear but I guess this is the best that I can do.

Cotton baju kurung for my friend PIJA. Belum berjahit. :)

july issue

It's July and I just published my old June's post. Since i don't have any project on last month and I hate to see a lot of drafts in my list of posts, and I don't want to skip June in my archive list, and to solve this issue, I just publish them eventhough they are super plain, no projects, -no point or what so ever.. and I'm really glad that no more draft in my list of posts.

By the way, I already bought the fabrics for my baju kurung. Instead of 1 pair, I'm going to make 3 pairs. One for me and another 2 for my friend, Pija.Sorry...that's all I can update in this post. No ideas..no project lorr..daa!!

errkk....where's my baju kurung project? I guess I'm still in a busy month..I don't have time to buy new fabrics. I did buy a skirt pattern from Alviana but until now I haven't cut the pattern yet due to no fabrics. I hope this upcoming July will be an easy & relax for me... since I'm in Quality Engineer training and my team leader will not assign new segmentation cases to me anymore (what a release for me!) . I'm upgrading my 9-6 hrs job and I hope I can upgrade my skills in sewing too!

I'm back again for June's entry. Hello my dearest blog...or whoever read my blog...hi bloggers!heheh.. I have been quite busy with my 9-6 work lately and I just came back from my holiday. This time i went to Sabah...4 days trip. It's very tiring but it was really fun. Never thought that Malaysia got this beautiful and gorgeous scenery. So, no sewing activities from me and I guess this blog will getting bored if I don't do any project this coming weeks. Errmmh, I'm thinking of making a baju kurung. Cotton baju kurung. wish me luck! I made this one last night. I really wanted to sew something and I came up with this idea. . Guess what it is?

errkk..i saw something in there..erasable marker? small note book? needle book?

Tadaa....it's a place for my sewing stuffs. Wish that it can keep all of my stuffs but i guess it's for some important stuffs only. It's more for travelling purposes.

I actually wanted to put the cross stitch fabric for this needle's area but I don't have the fabric at the moment and I was too excited to sew this item in a day. So, i replaced it with the fibre instead.

I can put my small notebook, scissor, ruler, pencil/pen, 'penetas' (erkk..I dun't know this word in English). Can someone help me?

And I can put some threads too!

I should have name for this finished item. Ermmh..should i call it 'red square pouch'? Ermmhh...looks okay for me. By the way, it's for myself. Name does not matters, right? Happy sewing everybody!!Challo!!

new books

I bought few books at big bad wolf book sale at Pj last weekend. Very cheap for the first hand books. The price is in the range of RM5-RM20. Attempted to buy a lot of books but at the end of the day i only bought 2 quilt books, 1 knitting and another one is a novel based on the true story. errkk..is it consider as novel? hehehe.. And another book which is 'just hats' was actually my dodo's choice. I'm not in a mood doing knitting at the moment..but maybe one day the passion will come i guess..

And for this one, they're actually souvenir cum gifts from him. He went to Medan for a company trip for 4 days( and i did miss him so much! 4 days without sms-ing,voice..waaa!! sungguh busan hidup!). Luckily I got a lot of things from him.. Thank u so much,my schatzi! There are few items which are not in the pic actually....keychain (batik), food-kek lapis legit,kek bingka, jeruk blueberry (sedap!) errkk..another one is...i forgot the name already but it is actually kacang tumbuk disalut dgn sesame. mmg sedap..yummy!yummy!yummy! more,more,and more things for me, dear!!

tulip hearted quilt

At last....my first ever quilt completed! Let the pictures + few notes speak for itself...

add some tiny touch at the back of the quilt. I put my friend's daughter name,Eidil..so that she will knows that this quilt was made especially for her.

My first quilt is going to be completed soon. I managed to buy the fibre last Wednesday at Sect 9 Shah Alam. Wait till I post my ‘new-last’ entry for this tulip hearted quilt this coming Monday. A lot of changes I’ve done so far for this baby quilt. Well, no one is going to see the original design, right? What they can only see is the finished product and I am quite satisfied with this coming finished product. If that looks good, that’s all that matters! No more 24 or 17 tulips...but 9 pieces only...so sad!..hahaha..till my fingers meeting this keyboard again.challo!

new layout

It's been a while I have not updating my blog. My quilt is still in progress. hehehe...It's pending actually since I don't have few stuffs and it's quite busy these few weeks..(this meant for my office work actually..too many cases!).But still I want to update something today since I have done few changes for my blog. Only a minor changes. I changed my blog's template from 2 column into 3 column template and rearrranged all the widgets based on this new template.

Ermhh...maybe I can just update in here on how I did all these changes. First of all, I’m using the minima template where it has two column template. It has few parameter and it is the easiest and the simplest template to customise. The reason why I want to change it to three columns is because I want to maximise the upper page of my blog with the important things and reduce my time for scrolling down in order to search bla bla bla... (hehehehe..)

Here we go..8 simple steps!

Go to Template>Edit HTML, and leave the "Expand widget templates" box unchecked.
Find this section in the HTML code:
#sidebar-wrapper { width: 220px; float: right; word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */ overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */ }
Copy this entire section, and paste it directly below. You need to change few elements in the section that you have pasted. So the second section will become like this(please refer the one that I highlighted in red).
# left-sidebar-wrapper { width: 220px; float: left; word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */ overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */ }
So, now we will have a new sidebar at the left of the layout.
I add another code which is highlighted in green before this section highlighted in red.
{div id='left-sidebar-wrapper' }{b:section class='sidebar' id='left-sidebar' preferred='yes'/ }{ /div}
{div id='main-wrapper'}
The next thing I changed was the width of the wrappers. Find all these 3 different section in the HTML code:
#outer-wrapper {width: 660px;
#left-sidebar-wrapper {220px;
#header-wrapper {660px;
I changed all the value (highlighted in red) to 880px
Save the new template now and add one or two elements(widgets) to the new left side bar..
Then I did some changes in the main wrapper by adding the codes define in red below.
#main-wrapper { width: 410px; float: left; margin-left: 20px; word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */ overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */ }
Since there is a margin space of 20px between the left-sidebar and the main column, I did some changes again for the outer-wrapper by changing the width from 880px to 900px.
Save my new template and walla..now I’m using my new 3 column template!

p/s: For step #3, make sure to change this symbol '{}' to '<>' in your html code. Sorry for any inconvinience caused. Somehow the correct symbol cannot be shown in this entry as a fully code.

tulip hearted quilt-part III

I just bought these beautiful and cheap fabric last weekend at Kamdar,MV. So, no english cotton from Romantika for this quilt. Maybe for new project I'll try to use it.

Basic idea on how i will 'susun' this tulips. I like the bright color of the fuschia one. Ermmhh sorry for the Bahasa Melayu word. Erk..what is 'susun' in English ya? Lupa daa...hahaha...

waa....a lot of works to do lor...but still i love to do it!

tulip hearted quilt-part II

Now I know what should I put at the back of my quilt. Fleece blanket! I might choose pink or black color and I know where to get it. Last time I did buy one for my sister at Kamdar,MV. It was quite cheap though. I think the price was RM15 per each. And for the background of my quilt I think I will go for the english cotton that I see at Romantika outlet in Shah Alam. RM15 per metre but a quarter should be fine for my quilt. Can't wait to buy them this weekend. I am really into quilting right now. I just joined the quilting forum at about.com and there is a lot of information (techniques, pattern, tips,etc) that I can use for my quilting project. I hope there will be more project that I can accomplish. More and more from black book of sewing!!challo!

tulip hearted quilt-part I

I am so excited for this project. My 1st attempt to do quilt. never done one before. i might not have all the quilt tools..like cutter...board? or anything...but I'll try to make this one happen. This one is for my best friend,Norli for her new born baby ,Eidil Khadijah. I hope they will like it!

This is the pattern that i'm using for this project. Got it from free pattern

It looks simple but believe me,it is not easy (I mean..for beginner like me). This design was made by Mary Graham but I did some changes on it. Accidentally actually! So, I renamed it as Tulip Hearted Quilt. You wanna know why? Hehehe.Just look at the images that I uploaded here....you will know why..I'm still in an early stage and luckily I still got few beautiful fabrics which i bought from Ebay last few months ago. At last i know what to do with those fabrics.

The fabrics has been cut into few small pieces. I decided to make 24 colorful hearts for Eidil's quilt.

Just to show the process of combining the patterns.

Errkk....and this is what happen when I get so over excited.Supposely this is a heart pattern but i forgot to add allowance on one side of that heart. So, it becomes unbalanced. That is why.. I decided to alter back the heart to become..Tulip!!It looks like tulip right? So, from beginner hearts...it suddenly transform to Tulip Hearted! Designed by Jessie! hehehe..Thank god i can still continue my quilt.This is the basic idea on how i susun all these cute tulips.

That's the only thing that i did last night. I still need to buy few fabrics for the background. Green looks great too right? Soft pink maybe? Ermmhh...nvmind.Let just wait and see what's the final decision. Till my fingers meeting this keyboard again. Challo!
